Band

How to be ready for band

  • Make sure your instrument does not need any repairs. If it does, take it to the music store (Menchey's, Horn Hospital, Loser's, etc.)
    • Percussionists - you need a pair of drum sicks (Vic Firth SD-1 General are great beginner sticks).

    • Reed instruments - corks must be attached, all pads must be attached.

    • Brass instruments - slides must be easily removed, valves must move easily.

    • Buy a box of reeds for your instrument - if needed. Middle school students should be playing on at least 2.5 hardness reeds. If you aren't sure of the strength you need, ask Mr. Wolfe first.

    • Put your name on your instrument and case.

    • Parents write down the make of the instrument and serial number for your records. If you need help finding this. Please see Mr. Wolfe and he can find this information for you. Knowing the brand and serial number of the instrument is the best way to make sure that if your instrument goes missing it can be returned to you.

  • PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CLEAN AND SANITIZE YOUR INSTRUMENT AND YOUR CASE!
